About Don Julio Añejo Tequila

Don Julio Añejo Tequila is a small batch, authentic tequila. Aged for 18 months in white-oak barrels, this is a rich and wonderfully complex tequila with a fresh nose of lime, grapefruit and citrus notes. Adored for its full-bodied and balanced palate of agave, wood and vanilla flavors, the finish is bright and lightly-spiced. Bottled at 80 proof, it’s best savored neat or on the rocks.

About Don Julio

The story of Don Julio tequila began in 1942 when a young man of 17 had a vision to create a luxury tequila. Don Julio González was granted a loan by a local businessman and threw himself into the tequila-making business right away. In 1957, La Primavera Distillery in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, was built. Always choosing quality over quantity, Don Julio paid attention to every little detail: he personally made sure that each agave was planted far apart with enough room to grow and then chose only the most succulent parts of the piña to steam for 72 hours.

A pioneer in all areas, even when it came to tequila bottles, Don Julio designed a lower, square-shaped tequila bottle as opposed to the classic tall ones that made it impossible to see your guests across the table. Handcrafted and distilled at La Primavera Distillery still today, luxury Don Julio tequilas are all made from 100% pure Blue Weber agave, which is harvested after 7-10 years by expert jimadors.

About Tequila

Legally, tequila has to be made of 51% of Blue agave around the Jalisco region in Mexico. There are different types of tequila according to age – from the youngest representatives, blanco, reposado, and añejo, to the oldest extra añejo.
